With our world evolving and everything can just be managed from a click on our smart phones, people are now reading and managing their emails on their mobile devices. It is important to stay up to date with trendy designs in order to adapt marketing skills to get potential customers. Here are 7 things you can adopt to optimize email for mobile devices.

1. Text Size

You must ensure that your font size is enlarged to a reasonable size for easy viewing, this is because people just don’t want to put their phones so close to their faces just to recognise a word! A recommended size is 14px minimum for body text and headlines should be sized to roughly 24px.

2. Email Width

You need to remember that a mobile device screen is smaller than a desktop or laptop monitor, so you need to ensure that you cater for this. Usually a smart phone device will reduce the size of the email so it fits on the screen. It has been recommended that desktop emails are created at 640px wide, as this will be decreased by 50% when viewed on a movile device. However, if you want to just design a mobile version, you should scale the width to 320px as this is ideal for mobile screens.

3. Simple Content

In most designs, simplicity is always the key. When you are in the process of advertising to customers who are viewing your content via their mobile device, always ensure that communication is clear. Try and avoid ‘beating around the bush’ and get straight to the point, everyone hates having to scroll through pages and pages just to find the important information. You can ensure a simple design by including some landing pages for your articles or positioning the navigation at the bottom of the page.

4. Big Buttons

There is nothing like a massive green button saying ‘CLICK HERE’ within a design. You should remember that everyone has different size fingers! So your buttons must cater for this. Ensuring that your design has big buttons, you can feel safe that they will stand out and users will not have any problems trying to click them. A recommended minimum size is 50x50px, however you should also make sure there is space around the button for any miss clicks!

5. Get Noticed

Getting noticed is by far one of the most important aspects of designing emails for mobile devices. As there are an abundance of designs and services available, you have to ensure that your designs stand out. By using bold headers and attractive graphics, this will ensure that your design is noticeable.

6. Keep Your CTA Within Reach

As we live in a world where most people are right handed, it would be essential to locate a CTA on the right hand side of the email.

7. Single Column

Coming back to simplicity, designs for mobile devices are recommended to have single columns. This just makes room for larger content and just makes the readers experience that much easier. Using lines or spacing can ensure that your content can be positioned correctly and neatly.
